Jeopardy!: Mike Richards in Talks to Become Permanent Host

Jeopardy’s producer Mike Richards might have found the new host for his successful quiz show, or that’s what Variety Magazine is reporting. And according to anonymous sources, it’s Mike Richards! Talk about a perfect candidate.

According to a Sony Pictures spokeswoman, there are still talks about other candidates. He refused to make a comment on Richards’ situation. Albeit, it is obvious to the fans that Richards is obviously a front-runner. A source closely related to the issue warned that there is no guarantee that the parties would reach an agreement and that other candidates are still in the running.

The Gameshow, along with Richards, were looking for the perfect candidate for the last eight months, and it has only recently surfaced that the right host was there all along.

According to Variety, Mike Richards is a stand-up comedian who has hosted several other game shows and has “advanced negotiations” in becoming the next permanent host for Jeopardy!

Before this, we have seen Richards hosting Sony Pictures’ Game Show Networks shows The Pyramid and Divided. Apart from this, Mike Richards was also seen on “Beauty and the Geek” and in WB’s “Highschool Reunion.” He has also been in ABC’s “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.”

We have seen a good number of celebrity hosts on Jeopardy! Trying to fill in the shoes of Alex Trebek, who held that role for 37 years!  These hosts have included LeVar Burton, Anderson Cooper; the footballer, Aron Rogers; Ken Jennings, a previous winner of the show; Katie Couric and Mayim Bialik.

Richard recently said Parade.com how hosting Jeopardy! has been the honor of his life and how he felt closer to the participants, and now the rumors, he is on his way to score a permanent seat as the host of the show.

When is he suspected to begin?

Close sources say that he will be formally confirmed later this month by production studio Sony Pictures Television.
