What was “The Godfather” all about?
Vito Corleone, the Godfather, is the head of the Corleone mafia family in New York. He is attending his daughter’s wedding. Michael, Vito’s youngest son and a distinguished WWII Marine, attends the wedding as well. Michael appears uninterested in joining the family company.
Vito is a powerful man who is compassionate to those who appreciate him but merciless to those who do not. But when a powerful and ruthless opponent wants to sell drugs and requires Don’s support, Vito refuses. What follows is a battle between Vito’s dying old ideals and the new ways, which may force Michael to do what he was most hesitant to do: launch a mob war against all the other mafia families, potentially tearing the Corleone family apart.
How many episodes are there, and who all are the cast and the crew?
Nikki Toscano also acts as showrunner, and Emmy-nominated writer Michael Tolkin wrote, and executive produced the 10-episode event series. Leslie Greif, along with Ruddy and Teller, acts as an executive producer on the show, and Rocketman’s Dexter Fletcher directs many episodes.
What is there in the video that has been released?
Over sepia-colored photos of the script title page, a 30-second film plays Nino Rota’s renowned theme song from The Godfather. Nikki Toscano and Michael Tolkin based the series on producer Albert S. Ruddy’s film production memories.
What is the other project that has started developing along with?
As The Offer begins filming, another project regarding The Godfather’s production, this time a feature film, is in the works. Oscar Isaac and Jake Gyllenhaal have been cast in Francis Ford Coppola and Paramount executive Robert Evans, respectively, with Elisabeth Moss as Eleanor Coppola.
The film will be directed by Barry Levinson (Rain Man) from a screenplay written by Andrew Farotte. Coppola himself gave the prospective film, titled Francis And The Godfather, a thumbs up, adding, “any movie that Barry Levinson does about anything will be intriguing and important!”
