Sing 2 Trailer Reveals a Louder, Prouder Animated Sequel

The first trailer for Universal Pictures and Illumination’s smash-hit animated franchise, Sing 2, has been released. Sing 2 is a sequel to the 2016 film. The clip follows the publication of a new series of posters featuring the return of Buster Moon (voiced by Matthew McConaughey) and Rosita (Reese Witherspoon) and the introduction of new characters to the franchise. This holiday season, the sequel will be released in theatres.

Sing, the first film of the series, was released in 2016 computer-animated musical comedy film distributed by Universal Pictures and produced by Illumination Entertainment.

Sing grossed $270.3 million in the United States and Canada, and $363.8 million in other markets, for a total worldwide gross of $634.1 million on a $75 million production budget. When all expenses and revenue for the picture were included, Deadline Hollywood projected the net profit to be $194.2 million, making it the seventh most profitable movie of 2016.

Garth Jennings wrote and directed the film, which was co-directed by Christophe Lourdelet. Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Seth MacFarlane, Scarlett Johansson, John C. Reilly, Nick Kroll, Taron Egerton, and Tori Kelly star in the ensemble cast.

What can be inferred about the storyline from the trailer?

Buster has set his sights on unveiling a bigger and grander show at the Crystal Tower Theater, and the new trailer offers many more exciting songs and the overall plot of the drama to come.

The only problem is that his band is still largely unknown, so in a desperate attempt to generate attention, they pretend that the show will star Clay Calloway, a once-famous musician who has since walled himself away after the death of his wife. It will be up to the team to persuade Clay to return to the spotlight and put on a show that will be remembered forever.

Pharrell Williams, Letitia Wright, Eric Andre, and Chelsea Peretti will all play new characters in the film.

Who are the other crew members of the film?

Garth Jennings, who also wrote and directed the previous film, returns to write and direct Sing 2. Chris Meledandri, creator and CEO of Illumination, and Janet Healy produce the film.
