While we wait for The Boys to return, Amazon is launching an in-universe digital series to keep us entertained. Although the third season of the famous superhero satire is still in the works, Entertainment Weekly reports that Amazon Studios is releasing a new digital mini-series to supplement the show and bridge narrative gaps. According to Entertainment Weekly, the series will feature in-universe news pieces from the Vought News Network, the “Fox News-esque media division” of Vought Industries, the force behind The Boys’ superpower.

The Boys is an Amazon Prime Video superhero streaming television series created by Eric Kripke. Based on Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s comic book of the same name. DC Comics initially published it under their Wildstorm banner before being moved to Dynamite Entertainment. It follows the titular vigilante squad as they battle superpowered individuals who abuse their abilities.
The sitcom has gained critical acclaim for its writing, plot, humor, and cast performances.

Eric Kripke, showrunner of The Boys, spoke with EW about the mini-series, describing how the episodes operate in concert with The Boys to flesh out the show’s ever-expanding universe: “We’ve watched Vought’s propaganda arm — er, news station — VNN from the beginning of The Boys…We’ll be delving deeper into that fair and balanced patriotism next season, so we’re launching ‘Seven on 7’ with VNN’s biggest star Cameron Coleman as a teaser.

Where do the series from in season 3?
The first episode, which is available on ‘Vought International’s YouTube channel, picks up where Season Two left off, detailing Homelander’s (Anthony Starr) disappearance from public view, the in-universe government’s decision to halt its plan to include superhumans in the military, and Hughie Campbell’s (Jack Quaid) appointment as a senior analyst on Congresswoman Neuman’s (Claudia Doumit) campaign team. The episode also included a parody of MyPillow and a promo for a fictitious brand named OurSheet.
When can we expect the rest of the episodes?
Episodes will be released on the 7th of each month on Vought’s Youtube channel and will include seven “news” pieces and a commercial, all of which will reveal more critical details about the show’s forthcoming season.
