Love is blossoming between acclaimed stars Jennifer Hudson and Common, and the duo dropped hints about their relationship on a recent episode of Hudson’s popular talk show, The Jennifer Hudson Show.
During a sneak peek of the upcoming episode, Jennifer Hudson, 42, playfully introduced Common, 51, with a rap performance before he made his entrance, bearing a generous bouquet of flowers as a gesture of affection.
As the interview commenced, Hudson, acting in her capacity as the host, didn’t shy away from addressing the question that’s been on everyone’s mind. She asked Common directly, “Are you dating anyone?”
Common, known for his roles in movies like The Suicide Squad, chuckled before confirming that he is indeed in a relationship. Although he didn’t mention Jennifer Hudson by name, the innuendo was unmistakable. He elaborated, “I’m in a relationship that is with one of the most beautiful people I ever met in life. She’s smart, she loves God, she has something real down-to-earth about her, she’s talented.”
Adding a touch of humor, Common jokingly noted his high standards, stating that he aspired for his partner to be an EGOT winner. In 2022, Jennifer Hudson achieved this prestigious honor when she won a Tony Award for her role in producing “A Strange Loop.”
The Dreamgirls star then reciprocated by expressing her happiness in her own relationship and inquired about Common’s feelings. He replied, “This relationship is a happy place for me. Seeing her happy actually makes me really happy. So, I’m very grateful. I thank God each and every day, and I’m just letting God guide this relationship.”
Rumors of a romantic connection between Common and Jennifer Hudson first surfaced in 2022 when they were spotted together in their native Chicago. Despite speculation, Hudson remained tight-lipped during a September 2022 interview with Entertainment Tonight, stating, “People create their narratives of it and it’s like, OK, you know, how you feel… We shot a film together, and [Common] played my husband. We gotta eat in between those moments.” The film in question is the upcoming thriller “Breathe.”
Since then, the pair has been frequently seen together, at times holding hands. Most recently, on January 17, they attended a basketball game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Dallas Mavericks at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, further fueling the speculation about their relationship.
