According to filmmaker Rian Johnson, Knives Out 2 has officially concluded production in Greece. The Oscar-nominated filmmaker and screenwriter announced in a tweet that the production had completed its time in the Greek Riviera — in cities such as Mykonos and Porto Heli — marking the halfway point in the film’s production schedule. The sequel, starring Daniel Craig, began filming in Greece at the end of June and wrapped up just over a month later.
Knives Out is an American mystery film written, directed, and produced by Rian Johnson and Ram Bergman. It follows a master investigator as he investigates the death of an affluent, dysfunctional family’s dad. Johnson chose to shoot Knives Out after finishing Looper in 2012. However, due to his participation in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, he was unable to complete the screenplay until 2017. The project was announced the next year and sold to distributors at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival. Filming lasted three months, from October to December of 2018.

“We’re about halfway through our shoot in Greece, and that’s the end of it!” Johnson posted a snapshot of production equipment against the backdrop of a lovely Greek mountainside on Twitter. “ Many thanks to all of the amazing people here, as well as our local crew, who nailed it.”
What do we know about the second series?
Knives Out 2 plot details are still scant. But we know Johnson was highly influenced by Agatha Christie, one of the most famous mystery novels of all time, who created a series of stories centred on a Belgian detective named Hercule Poirot who traversed the world and frequently found himself engaged in a new case wherever he went.
According to the cast roster for this new film, Johnson is borrowing a page from that playbook and whisking Blanc off to the other side of the planet, where his character becomes involved in a completely different case.

Who are all starring in the second season?
Along with Craig’s return as Detective Benoit Blanc, the film’s ensemble includes Kate Hudson, Dave Bautista, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Janelle Monáe, and Kathryn Hahn. Ethan Hawke was also spotted on-site in Greece, rounding out an equally impressive and prolific cast as its predecessor. Johnson co-wrote, directed, and produced Knives Out 2 with producers Ram Bergman and Tom Karnowski.
