Joseph Kosinski, who has two star-studded films on the horizon in Top Gun: Maverick and Escape From Spiderhead, has signed on to direct a Warner Bros. adaptation of Chariot’s graphic novel.
Joseph Kosinski, born on May 3, 1974, is an American film director best recognized for his work in computer graphics and computer-generated imagery (CGI) and action films. He made his feature film directing debut in 2010 with Tron: Legacy, a sequel to the 1982 blockbuster Tron.

Top Gun: Maverick, directed by Gore Verbinski and starring Tom Cruise from Oblivion, will be released on November 19 by Paramount. The Netflix film Escape From Spiderhead, starring Chris Hemsworth, Miles Teller, and Jurnee Smollett-Bell, is currently postponing.
Julian Meiojas, whose recent credits include Jack Ryan and The Flash, will pen the script. Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen from 21 Laps are producing alongside Kosinski. The project is the first for AWA Studios, the graphic novel publisher’s film, and television division. It is executive produced by AWA’s Zach Studin. This is AWA’s debut project, but there will be more in the future.
What is the movie about?
The film is described as a sci-fi thriller about a top-secret Cold War project in which the government provided its star agent with a one-of-a-kind weapon: a state-of-the-art sports automobile.
The Chariot, as it quickly became known, sunk into the ocean alongside said agent decades ago. Still, now a petty criminal wanting to mend his life has discovered the Chariot, and he’s going to discover that the agent’s consciousness is still operating it.
What else is there in the movie?
The plot revolves around a star-crossed romance, which the directors described as a cross between True Romance and The Matrix.

Those are two of my favourite movies, and the notion of a high-tech car operated by a former spy slipping into the hands of a criminal seeking atonement appealed to me.
What are the other recent projects of the rest of the crew?
Meiojas was a co-executive producer on Ridley Scott’s HBO Max series Raised by Wolves, and he’s also adapting his novella DNA for Amazon and Simon Kinberg’s Genre Films. Meanwhile, Levy’s 21 Laps banner will release the Ryan Reynolds film Free Guy on August 13, and the firm has already wrapped another Reynolds film, The Adam Project, for Netflix.
Getting into business with Kosinski appears to be a wise decision, as the director will be in high demand once the action-packed Top Gun sequel hits theatres.
