Kena: Bridge of Spirits is an upcoming action-adventure game that follows Kena, a young Spirit Guide, as she travels to an abandoned town searching for a sacred mountain shrine. Kena works to unravel the secrets of the abandoned settlement, which is now hidden in an overgrown forest teeming with trapped ghosts.
Ember Lab has pushed back its highly anticipated Kena: Bridge of Spirits from August 24 to September 21. According to the official Twitter account, a message was sent, albeit no concrete reasons for the delay were offered, other than the game needed a “polish across all platforms.” Kena: Bridge of Spirits, the gorgeous action-adventure game that looks like a playable Dreamworks film, was introduced back in June 2020 during Sony’s PS5 Showcase. There have been several delays since then. This newest setback is the shortest of the bunch: the game has been pushed back one month this time, with a release date of September 21 currently in the works (instead of August 24).

Kena will develop a team of small, adorable companion spirits, commonly known as the “Rot,” to gain new talents that will allow her to alter the environment and discover new things as she moves the spirits from the physical to the spiritual world. Players will explore the deserted settlement and employ Spirit Realm powers to restore and balance the environment. Fast-paced combat is important in the game because Kena will have to fight corrupt, stuck souls who cannot move on. The game was showcased at the Tribeca Film Festival, where virtual participants were able to play an hour-long demo. The game demo has received mostly positive feedback.
