Dwayne Johnson stated on Instagram that the long-awaited DC picture Black Adam has finally concluded filming after years of development. The forthcoming superhero film is presently scheduled to hit theatres on July 29, 2022.
Dwayne Johnson posted a video from the set of Black Adam to commemorate the completion of filming. Johnson will rejoin Jungle Cruise director Jaume Collet-Serra for the upcoming DCEU picture, which will focus on his titular antihero, once known as Teth-Adam, a slave from Kahndaq who is bestowed superpowers by the ancient wizard Shazam. Adam spends millennia in prison after misusing his newly acquired talents and later becomes the archnemesis of the superhero Shazam.

Johnson revealed his intention to play Black Adam on the big screen just under seven years ago, despite his name having circulated in the DC world since the 2000s. Since then, a lot has happened in the DCEU, and while it’s frustrating that it’s taken so long, Black Adam arrives on the heels of the critically praised Shazam! The Zachary Levi-led film foreshadowed Teth Adam’s coming and acts as a steady bright point in the DC Extended Universe’s ever-changing landscape.
