Selena Gomez, no stranger to taking social media hiatuses, has decided to step away from the virtual world once again. The singer and actress made the announcement to her followers via her Instagram Story, expressing her intention to focus on what truly matters in her life.
In her message, Gomez wrote, “I’m off social for a while. I’m focusing on what really matters,” which she overlaid on a video featuring her boyfriend, Benny Blanco, interacting with children.
This decision comes after Gomez found herself at the center of a fan-fueled drama involving Golden Globes footage. Earlier in the day, she had posted a comment on Instagram to clarify the situation regarding her, Keleigh Sperry, and Taylor Swift, as they were seen together in a viral clip from the awards ceremony.
Speculation had arisen among fans, suggesting that Sperry had mentioned “with Timothée!?” due to her lip movements, leading to the assumption that Gomez had disclosed Kylie Jenner’s involvement in blocking her from taking a photo with Timothée Chalamet.
Gomez addressed the issue when E! News questioned the moment on their Instagram. E! wrote, “At tea time, we’d love to know if Selena Gomez was really gossiping about Kylie Jenner & Timothée Chalamet at this year’s #GoldenGlobes.A source sets the record straight at the link in bio.” Gomez promptly responded with, “Noooooo, I told Taylor about two of my friends who hooked up. Not that that’s anyone’s business.”
A source close to Gomez had previously informed People that the singer “was absolutely not referencing anything about Timothée or Kylie.” They clarified that Gomez “never even saw or spoke to them [Jenner and Chalamet]” during the Golden Globes.
Timothée Chalamet himself addressed the matter when questioned by a TMZ photographer on Monday night. He affirmed that he and Gomez were “cool” and denied any animosity between Kylie Jenner and Gomez, stating, “We’re all good.”
