Fast and Furious 10, which was scheduled to release in 2021 before F9 took its spot due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will make it into the theatres in April of 2023. The tenth installment of the mega-blockbuster action series will close the chapter on Vin Diesel’s character Dominic Toretto’s story arc.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Diesel teased that the last installment of the film is going to be so epic that Universal movie studios had to divide the film into two parts, both of which will be written by Chris Morgan and directed Justin Lim. The two-parter tenth installment, which will be shot back-to-back in 2022, will be Lin’s sixth and seventh outing as the director in the franchise, starting with ‘The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.’

Although, as of now, Universal Studios hasn’t made an official announcement regarding who will make it into the film, the usual suspects are expected to return in the film along with Diesel like Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris Bridges (Ludacris), and Sung Kang.
Things are still unclear whether F9 star John Cena who plays Jakob Toretto, will return for the film. However, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, who quit the series due to his ongoing beef with Diesel, will not reprise the role of Luke Hobbs. However, he took to his social media to congratulate his co-stars on F9 and wished them luck for the upcoming 10th and 11th installment.
Johnson is, however, slated to appear in the presently untitled Hobbs and Shaw sequel. The untitled project is under active development, with producer Hiram Garcia announcing in 2020 that screenwriter Chris Morgan will helm the script. Although a plot hasn’t been decided upon, Garcia mentioned that the film will introduce exciting new characters.

In other exciting news, an all-women-led spin-off film is under development, with Nicole Perlman, Lindsey Beer, and Geneva Robertson-Dworet serving as writers. Actor Charlize Theron is slated to reprise her role as Cipher in the spin-off film.
Universal’s F9 was released in the nick of time as COVID-19 restrictions were relaxing all over the world, therefore, making Fast and Furious 9 the highest-grossing film worldwide during the pandemic. And although the film received mixed reviews from critics, the audience reaction was mainly positive on all major movie score aggregators.
Fast and Furious 10: Part 1 is scheduled to release in cinemas by April 7, 2023.
