Stars of “The Lobster” Rachel Weisz and Colin Farrell reunite in the upcoming dark comedy ‘Love Child’ will be produced by Christine Vachon under her Killer Films banner and David Hinojosa on behalf of 2 AM.
The duo, who acted together in the Yorgos Lanthimos’ 2015 directorial, will headline dark comedy “Love Child” from filmmaker Todd Solondz, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“Love Child” is a dark comedy that the sales team describes as “a dark and humorous spin on the classic Oedipal tale.” The official synopsis for the film is as follows: “‘Love Child’ follows a precocious child who tries to rid himself of his harsh father so he can have his mother all to himself.” When a gorgeous stranger appears, everything goes wrong.”

“This is my first film with a plot, and my first film set in Texas,” Solondz said in a statement. “It’s exciting and seductive, and it’s influenced by the Hollywood films that inspired me to become a filmmaker. I’ve always admired Rachel and Colin’s work, and I’m thrilled to be able to share their enthusiasm for serious and unusual work.”
Madriver International is in charge of international sales and bringing the film to the Cannes Virtual Market, while Cinetic Media, CAA Media Finance, and WME are in charge of finance and domestic rights.

Both Weisz and Farrell have comic book tentpoles in the works ahead of “Love Child,” with Weisz’s MCU entry “Black Widow” due to hit theatres on July 9 and Farrell’s DC Comics film “The Batman” set to open on March 4, 2022.

Farrell will also be in Cannes next month as the lead of “After Yang,” the latest directorial effort from “Columbus” filmmaker Kogonada. The film “After Yang” will have its global premiere in the Un Certain Regard section.
